t is often said that a song can capture the moment. How true! We can all look back at special events, people, places, times, and remember a specific song being connected to those meaningful moments. But for a songwriter, I can say that the opposite happens as well. “The moment can capture the song.” That’s what I present here with Heartdance. Moments I’ve experienced in my own life, or witnessed in the lives of others. I call these love songs. But they are not just the traditional love songs that celebrate the excitement of finding new love; these songs encompass many aspects of a love relationship. Yes, there’s plenty of joy and excitement here; but there’s the emotional roller-coaster that winds the heart through times of loss, pain, and disappointment here too. The truth is…it’s ALL part of grasping the depth and power of love. So whether the heart is moving quickly to a fast tango during the “I can’t get enough of you” time of love or it’s barely beating to the slow waltz of “I’m here, and I refuse to give up on us” time of love, it’s all part of the steps we dance when we truly give ourselves to someone else. I hope you hear, feel, remember, and realize all of this as you listen to Heartdance. - David Austin
